Wooden exports surpass US$4 billion by 2011

The Vietnam Timber and Forest Production Association (Vietforest) has predicted that Vietnam will produce a turnover of US$4.1-4.2 billion from the export of wooden products by 2011.

The Deputy chairman of Vietforest, Nguyen Ton Quyen, said that this year, Vietnam’s export markets have recovered remarkably with export turnover likely surpassing US$3 billion. Vietnam’s wood exports to the US obtained a growth rate of 15 percent and 8 percent in the EU.

According to Vietforest, by 2011, the demand for Vietnam’s wooden products will be huge and Vietnam is likely to reach US$4.1-4.2 billion, up 39 percent compared to 2010.

Quyen added that in the coming years, the wood sector should continue to achieve a growth rate of 35 percent per year in order to reach a turnover of US$7 billion as the set target. – VOV
