What cars are financial millionaires in Hanoi using?

The three brand names of cars that Hanoi’s financial millionaires most favour are Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley, according to local newspaper VnExpress.

Among the financial millionaires, who own Rolls-Royce cars, there are two chairs of the board of directors of big companies. One of them is working for a securities company, holding a high position in VnExpress’ list of 100 Vietnamese top stock millionaires in 2009. The other is now the chair of a medium class bank headquartered in Hanoi.

Another well known guy who also drives a Rolls-Royce was a former officer of FPT Capital, who is very young, born in 1979. The man, after earning fat money with share trading affairs, has shifted to trade real estate. He is one of rare Rolls-Royce owners, driving his car himself.

Among the financial millionaires who have Bentley brand cars, two held high positions in the 2009’s list of 100 top stock millionaires. One of the two is holding the post of Chair of the Board of Directors of a bank which is leading joint stock banks in terms of business effects. The Bentley car he owns was specifically designed to his order.

The other person is the chair of the board of directors of a newly emerging economic group operating in many fields.

The third person who also owns a Bentley car is not a stock millionaire, but he is well known in the financial circle and he is very keen on cars. The man is the leader of an investment fund.

As for Maybach brand, the most famous person who drives Maybach car is the chair of the board of directors of a bank. Though it is just a medium class bank, it has become very famous recently.

According to VnExpress, the personality of the financial millionaires decides the brand of cars they own. For example, the millionaires, who have Rolls-Royce, like classical luxury with the value durable with the time. In general, this brand is favoured mostly by elderly people. The case of the officer from FPT Capital is an exception case.

The leader of an investment fund in Hanoi said he likes Bentley cars because of the youthfulness of the brand and the excellent drive function.

Maybach is also the brand symbolizing the luxury which explains why the millionaires like driving Maybach cars.

The opinion from well informed circle said that none of the cars being owned by financial millionaires has the value of one million dollar. Meanwhile, millionaires in other fields have spent more money to own more luxurious cars. Most recently, a millionaire in Quang Ninh province has purchased a Maybach worth 24 billion dong, or $1.2 million. In 2009, the manufacturer only made and sold four such cars all over the world.

In the 2009’s list of top 100 Vietnamese stock millionaires released by VnExpress, Chair of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group Doan Nguyen Duc topped the list with the stock assets of 11,439.335 billion dong.

The second and third positions belonged to Pham Nhat Vuong, Member of the Board of Management of Vincom and Vinpearl Trade and Tourism Corporations with the total stock assets of 8,948.803 billion dong, and Dang Thanh Tam, who is holding big proportions of stakes in Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation and some other companies.- VnExpress
