VNPT expected to expand business into Asian region

Pham Long Tran, Chairman of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group, said they will continue to widen the scale of business in foreign markets in 2010. It set a strategic goal of becoming one of the 10 leading providers of service, information and telecommunications measures in the Asian region.

For its good performances over the years, VNPT has just received the Labour Hero title from the Party and State.

At a conference to deploy plans in 2010 on January 20, VNPT announced it will strive to gain a turnover of VND100,000 billion this year, increasing by 27 percent against 2009.

In fact, VNPT has always retained a solid growth rate, the turnover each following year is usually 20-30 percent higher than the previous year.

Apart from business achievements, VNPT is a leading enterprise in making great contributions to social welfare. In the last 10 years, VNPT has contributed over VND435 billion. In 2009, VNPT spent nearly VND200 billion to deploy a programme to assist socio-economic development in Muong Te and Sin Ho districts, Lai Chau.

The group now plans to increase the average income of staff and the amount of money for the state budget by 10 percent, raise MegaVNN subscribers by 1 million and the whole telephone network to 10.7 million.
