VND681,000 billion for developing southern transport system

The Ministry of Transport has submitted a transport development plan for the key southern economic region till 2020 and orientations for 2030 to the government.

The investment required for the proposed plan to develop transport infrastructure in the south is more than VND681,000 billion for the 2011-2020 period including VND326,000 billion for roads, VND168,000 billion for railway systems and VND88,000 billion for maritime routes.

Priority investment projects include four to eight-lane highways routes such as HCM City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay, Trung Luong- My Thuan, Ben Luc-Nhon Trach-Long Thanh and Dau Giay-Phan Thiet.

Other routes include Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, HCM City-Moc Bai, HCM City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh, Dau Giay-Da Lat, Ring Road No 3 and 4, and upgrading existing highways.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the above mentioned capital will be sourced from different economic sectors. – VOV
