VN to host ADB’s 44th annual meeting in May
The Asian Development Bank’s 44th annual meeting will be held in Hanoi from May 3-6, according to a news release by the Manila-based financial institution on 14 January.
Some 3,000 participants, including government leaders, central bank governors and finance ministers, as well as representatives from the private sector, academe, media and civil society will attend the event.
The 2011 annual meeting will focus on investment in Vietnam, regional integration, infrastructure development and protecting the poorest through private sector growth, said the news release.
A major highlight of the meeting will be a discussion on what Asia needs to do to drive transformation, manage risks and sustain its success through 2050. The meeting will also include country presentations on Indonesia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Bangladesh and Timor-Leste.
ADB’s annual meeting allows Governors from ADB member countries to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions. The meeting also provides opportunities for member governments to interact with ADB staff, NGOs, media, and representatives of observer countries, international organisations, academe and the private sector. – VOV
