VN-Index up on BVH, DPM rises

The VN-Index gained 0.53% this morning, closing at 434.60 points, thanks to a strong rise among influential stocks.

Strong stocks included insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and Phu My Fertiliser (DPM), which rose for the first time in the last six sessions with a gain of nearly 4% each, and financial conglomerate Masan Group (MSN) with an increase of 1%.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the market condition was fairly neutral with 109 codes rising, 106 declining and 55 closing unchanged.

Trades remained sluggish during the day, with just 25.7 million shares worth VN465.5 billion (US$22.6 million) changing hands.

Sai Gon Securities Inc (SSI) became the most active stock on the southern bourse on a volume of 1.3 million shares traded, the only listing with an excess of 1 million shares traded. SSI closed down for three days in a row, losing 1% to close at VND18,100 ($0.88).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also enjoyed a tiny gain of nearly 0.2% to close at 74.85 points. Market volume decreased around 40% to VND279 billion ($13.5 million) as 23 million shares changed hands.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 140-95.

Kim Long Securities (KLS) was still the most active stock nation-wide with 3 million shares exchanged, closing down 1.8% at VND11,100 ($0.54) per share. – VNS
