Vn-index recovers, driven by blue chips
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rebounded from a six-week low on October 13 as large-cap stocks rallied amid improving sentiment.
The primary index which tracks 297 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange revived 0.41 percent, or 1.68 points, to close at 412.59 points.
Across the benchmark, 133 stocks jumped, 80 retreated, while 89 remained unchanged.
Trading on the city bourse fell by 18 percent in volume and 15 percent in value over the previous day as around 29.05 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND438 billion.
Hoang Quan Consulting – Trading – Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC) was the most active share by volume with 2.25 million shares changing hands.
Becamex Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company (IJC) tagged along with 2.04 million shares.
Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, followed with 1.16 million shares traded.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) shot up 7.14 percent to close at VND1,500.
Tan Tien Plastic Packaging Joint Stock Company (TTP) curbed its four-day losing streak, resurrecting 5 percent to VND27,300.
Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (AGD) surged the second day, growing 4.88 percent to close at VND21,500.
De Tam Joint Stock Company (DTA), Hai Van Cement Joint Stock Company (HVX), and Binh Duong Mineral & Construction Joint Stock Company (KSB) were the biggest decliners on the southern trading floor. They all dumped 5 percent to VND5,700, VND3,800, and VND47,500 respectively.
Lu Gia Mechanical Electric Joint Stock Company (LGC) extended its losing streak to six consecutive days, reducing 4.98 percent to VND22,900.
An Giang Fisheries Import Export Joint Stock Company (AGF) sank 4.91 percent to VND21,300.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north made a contrast move, giving up 0.53 percent, or 0.37 points, to finish at 69.11 points. Around 31 million shares changed hands at a value of VND306.55 billion.
The UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares trimmed 0.3 percent, or 0.09 points, to 30.15 points at 2 pm local time. A total of 137,987 shares changed hands at a value of VND853 million.
