VN active in World Economic Forum

Viet Nam has made active contributions to the World Economic Forum 2011, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan says.

Speaking yesterday at the end of the annual meeting in Davos, Nhan said Viet Nam had taken part in all five major discussions relating to building new economic models after the crisis, assessing the current world economy and forecasting its prospects for the coming years, and agricultural development.

Nhan’s delegation also participated in six working sessions with the leading international investors in Viet Nam, to discuss ideas about how to better the investment environment.

In discussions regarding agriculture, top leaders such as the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, and World Bank President Robert Zoellick discussed how to develop sustainable, efficient farm products with the participation of the Vietnamese State, enterprises and farmers.

Nhan said international guests were impressed with their ideas and were keen to see how they progressed over the next few years.

Viet Nam’s representatives also shared their experience in controlling inflation and maintaining sustainable development with international guests.

WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said he would like more high level delegations from Viet Nam to attend the meetings in the future. — VNS
