Vinashin subsidiary launches 16,800 DWT cement ship

The Ben Kien Shipbuilding Industry Co. Ltd., under the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) on August 27 launched a 16,800 DWT-cement ship and laid down a keel to build a second similar ship.

The ship is part of the contract to build four 16,800 DWT cement ships for KGJS Cement Holding A/S (KGJ Cement) company of Norway.

The ship, 129.90m in length, 23m in width and 13m in height, is equipped with modern facility and technology, meeting all standards set by the latest international maritime conventions.

It is designed by the Shiptech Company of Singapore, and built under the supervision of Norway’s Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
