VinaPhone records high growth

The country’s third largest mobile operator, VinaPhone, said newly registered mobile subscriber numbers reached 10 million in 2010, a growth rate of 30 per cent.

VinaPhone said it had 35 million subscribers at the end of 2010.

The operator earned revenue of VND28.1 trillion ($1.4 billion) in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 37.2 per cent against 2009. Value-added services accounted for 21 per cent of the total revenue.

Meanwhile, VinaPhone’s revenue was nearly 28 per cent of its parent VNPT Group’s total revenue in 2010. The network now has 22,000 base transceiver stations, enabling the network to serve an additional 30 million users. — VNS
