Viettel’s subscriber scale ranks at 19th in the world

In the ranking board on the world telecommunication data till the end of Q3 2010 launched by Wireless Intelligence organisation recently, the Vietnamese Military-run telecommunication firm, Viettel, has been ranked at the 19th amongst 784 service providers in terms of number of subscriber in the world.

Thus, Viettel climbed five grades from Q2 2010 and stood in the front of the US-based mobile network provider, Sprint (Sprint Nextel). In the Southeast Asia region, from the third position in Q2, 2010, Viettel jumped to the second place amongst 58 network operators, after Indonesia-based Telkomsel (Telekomunikasi Selular).

After ten years of joining the telecommunication market, Viettel has become the Vietnam’s biggest mobile network, owning a huge telecommunication platform of over 42,200 base transceiver stations (BTS) 2G and 3G.

In 2010, Viettel continued to maintain high growth with revenue of over 91 trillion dong, profit at 15.5 trillion dong and became the leading operator in growth and profit in the telecommunication sector. – CafeF
