Viettel an international hit
Viettel has reportedly earned revenue of $161 million from its Cambodia market in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 2.8 fold against 2009, and led the Cambodian market in terms of infrastructure network and subscriber numbers.
The operator also earned revenue of $61 million from the Laos market, a year-on-year increase of 4.5 fold against that in 2009, leading in Laos market for its telecom infrastructure network last year.
Viettel reportedly invested $156 million in four overseas markets of Cambodia, Laos, Haiti and Mozambique by the end of 2010. Those four markets will reach an estimated 60 million people.
Among these markets, Viettel plans to invest $400 million in Mozambique through Movitel, a joint venture between Viettel, SPI and Mozambique’s Invespar after receiving an investment licence at the end of 2010. The investment capital will go to install around 4,500 base transceiver stations for 2G services and 1,200 stations for 3G services.
Viettel plans to earn revenue of VND109 trillion ($5.45 billion) this year, a year-on-year increase of 19 per cent along with installing 10,000 new base transceiver stations for both 2G and 3G in Vietnam along with 4,000 stations in oversea markets.
The corporation continues to promote its investment in overseas markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America with total market scale of 100 million people this year. – VIR
