Viettel accounts for 21.9pct profit of state giants

With 15.5 trillion dong of pre tax profit in 2010, the military-run telecommunication firm, Viettel contributed up to 21.9 percent of the total pre tax profit of 21 state groups and corporations.

Recently, the government had a working session with members of state giants whereby the government assigned the tasks for these firms to build the business, investment and business plans with an average growth of 15 percent.

As reported by the government, in 2010, 20 of 21 state giants posted profit with a total pre tax profit of 70.778 trillion dong.

Ending 2010, Viettel continued to lead in term of growth and profit rate in the telecommunication sector with a revenue of 91.561 trillion dong, up 52 percent year-on-year, profit at 15.5 trillion dong, rising 52 percent, state budget payment at 7.628 trillion dong and defence budget payment at 215 billion dong. Meanwhile, from 18.36 trillion dong in 2009, Viettel’s equity increased to 29.766 trillion dong in 2010, growing 62.1 percent year-on-year.

Currently, the total equity of telecommunication firms is 540.701 trillion dong, rising 11.75 percent over 2009′s.

With the role of the leading firm of the information technology and communication sector, Viettel targets a growth of 25 percent against 2010, equalling to a revenue of over 117 trillion dong in 2011. – ICT News
