VietPower – 1st Conference to Uncover Results of Power Development Master Plan VII

The 2nd Annual VietPower Conference, organized on September 27th-30th in Hanoi, will be the first conference to uncover the results of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Power development master plan VII, according to IBC Asia, the event’s organizer.

Local and foreign experienced experts will join and discuss the conference highlights including strategies for profitable power investments in Vietnam, crucial power policies in Vietnam, live power project case studies, partnerships with local regulators and utilities, updates and outlook for Vietnamese renewable energy development, and understanding the impact of coal and gas reserves on Vietnamese power projects.

There is a new age of foreign sector investment into Vietnamese infrastructure. AES and Vinacomin just signed off the first BOT (Build Operate Transfer) power project since Phu My 3 in 2001 – what does this mean for increased foreign infrastructure build in Vietnam? The Ministry of Industry and Trade are soon publishing Master Plan VII which will decide how to enter Vietnam’s power investment community. VietPower will apply the new policies to increasing the number of live projects on the ground.

Confirmed speakers include Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Chairman of PetroVietnam Power, Tobjørn Kirkeby-Garstad, Vice President for Southeast Asia of SN Power, Haris Fazillah, CEO of JAKS Resources, Praljit Sarkar, Project Director of AES, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of Vietnam’s Institute of Energy, Yongping Zhai, Principal Energy Specialist of ADB, and many others.

VietPower will have an extensive marketing campaign targeting regional government, power companies, law firms, financiers, EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) companies, power grid operators, coal producers and commodity traders as well as technology providers to discuss and capitalize upon investment opportunities opening up across Vietnam. Geographically this campaign will focus on Southeast Asia, predominantly Vietnam, and also looking to attract international investors from the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and North Asia.
