Vietnam’s trade turnover of gold reaches over $543m in first two weeks of Jun

During the first 15 days of June, Vietnam’s export turnover for precious gemstones and metals and its products reached over $543 million, accounting for over 57 percent of the total export turnover for this product group from early this year so far, general Department of Vietnam Customs reported.

Meanwhile, the figure of the same period last year was only about $62.5 million.

Totally from early this year as of June 15, the country’s total export turnover for these precious products was $941 million.

In addition, some other products also posted high export turnover in the first half of June such as rice ($171 million), petrol ($102.6 million), rubber ($121 million), wooden products ($151 million), apparel products ($627 million), and footwear ($307 million).

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s import spending for precious metal products in the first half of June was only over $9 million, bringing the total figure from early this year till June 15 to over $414 million.

Thus, from the beginning of this year so far, Vietnam posted a trade surplus for precious gemstones and metals at over $526 million.
