Vietnam’s June CPI forecast to rise 0.7-0.8pct m-o-m
Vietnam’s CPI (consumer price index) in June is forecast to rise only by 0.7-0.8 percent from May, according to the Price Management Department under the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
Although the general Statistical Office (GSO) has not officially announced the country’s CPI in May, with the CPI surges of HCM City at 2.38 percent and Hanoi at 1.76 percent, some economists predicted the country’s CPI rise in May will be likely to be above 2 percent.
According to the Price Management Department (MoF), the CPI forecast in June would increase only 0.7-0.8 percent from May thanks to some positive factors such as high industrial output and the demand and prices of some necessary goods in the domestic market tends to fall or be stable together with the efficiency from the government’s tightening monetary policy and reductions of public investments and frequent expenditures.
Thus, although there are still pressures causing the increase in prices, but CPI in June 2011 will slow down. – SGTT
