Vietnam’s industrial output surges 14.3pct in Apr
As reported by the general Statistic Office (GSO), Vietnam’s industrial output in April is estimated to reach 71.6 trillion dong, rising 4.5 percent from March and surging 14.3 percent from the same period last year.
Totally, from the earlier this year so far, the country’s industrial production value reached 270.5 trillion dong, up 14.2 percent year-on-year, of which, state-economic zone posted a rise of 5.1 percent, private firms and foreign invested enterprises (FIEs) posted a growth of nearly 17 percent.
From earlier this year so far, some industrial sectors posted high growth such as non-alcoholic beverage production and non-refractory pottery and ceramic increased about 39 percent, sugar (+36 percent), flour milling and production (+24.3 percent), iron and steel (+20.7 percent ), fertilisers and nitrogen compounds (+18.1 percent).
Conversely, some other fields decrease or saw low growth such as shipbuilding and repairing (down 43.3 percent), electricity cables and insulation wire (-20.3 percent), chemical and pharmaceutical (-9.8 percent), hard coal exploitation (+4.3 percent), production of beds, wardrobes, tables and chairs (+3.9 percent) and crude oil and natural gas exploitation (+3.4 percent).
Consumption index of processing industry sector increased significantly, reaching 13.7 percent year-on-year. Some sectors posted high consumption index such as non-alcoholic beverage production, paints, varnishes and mastics (up 41.8 percent), non-refractory pottery and ceramic products, brick, tile and sugar up 31-36 percent.
Meanwhile, some sectors saw decrease in consumption index such as motorcycles production (down 11.7 percent), vegetable and fruits preserving and processing (-9.2 percent), pharmaceutical, medicinal, chemical and botanical products (-4.7 percent), beer (+0.2 percent), pulp, paper and paperboard (+1.3 percent). – Vietbiz24
