Vietnam’s exports of confectionery and cereal products up 18.4pct in Jan-November 2010

Vietnam’s exports of confectionery and cereal products in November 2010 reached $34.3 million, up 24.6 percent on month and 43.7 percent on year, bringing the country’s total export turnover for confectionery and cereal products in Jan-November to $292.9 million, up 18.4 percent y-o-y and accounting for 0.5 percent of Vietnam’s total export turnover in Jan-Nov, General Statistical Office (GSO) reported.

Cambodia was Vietnam’s biggest buyer in Jan-November with $43 million, up 33.5 percent y-o-y and counting for 14.7 percent of the total, and followed by China with $26.6 million, up 57.9 percent y-o-y and counting for 9 percent of the total.

During the first 11 months 2010, some Vietnam’s export market for confectionery and cereal products posted high growth rate including United Arab Emirates (UAE) with $17.6 million, up 78.8 percent y-o-y and counting for 6 percent of the total, and then China with $26.6 million, Singapore ($4.2 million, up 35.4 percent and counting for 1.4 percent), Taiwan ($14.3 million, up 33.8 percent and counting for 4.9 percent) and Cambodia ($43 million, rising 33.5 percent and counting for 14.7 percent of the total).

Conversely, some Vietnam’s export markets for confectionery and cereal products saw falls in export turnover in Jan-November 2010 such as Czech Republic ($4 million, down 15.7 percent y-o-y and counting for 1.4 percent), and then the US ($21 million, down 13.1 percent and counting for 7.3 percent), Thailand ($9 million, down 6.1 percent and counting for 3 percent) and Hong Kong ($19.2 million, down 5.2 percent and accounting for 6.6 percent of the total export turnover). – Vietbiz24
