Vietnam’s export to Singapore surges strongly

During the last months of 2010, Vietnam’s export turnover to Singapore continued to increase and rice was still the country’s key export item with the highest export turnover, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

In November 2010, Vietnam’s export turnover to Singapore reached $170.1 million, rising 14.41% against October, bringing the country’s total export turnover in Jan-Nov, 2010 to $1.9 billion, growing 6.16% year on year.

Also in November, 2010, Singapore imported $12.4 million of rice from Vietnam, increasing 43.06% over October, bringing the total value in Jan-Nov 2010 to $219.9 million, accounting for 11% of the country’s total export turnover to Singapore and growing 70.07% y-o-y.

Vietnam’s export for computer, electronic products and components to Singapore reached $13.9 million in November 2010, down 30.38% from October. Totally in Jan-Nov 2010, the figures were $203 million, up 16.10% against first 11 months of 2009.

Vietnam’s export commodities to Singapore in first 11 months of 2010 posted growth except some such as crude oil down 36.75% to reach $583.7 million, apparel products fell 34.64% to $27.6 million, products from iron and steel down 17.89% to reach $14.9 million, coffee down 28.57% to $$13.5 million and rubber down 49.2% to $3.1 million.

Also, according to the GSO, amongst export items, iron and steel posted the highest growth to Singapore market (up 484.64% against first 11 months of 2009).
