Vietnam’s apparel product export fetches $1b in Mar

Vietnam’s apparel product export in March is estimated to earn $1 billion, nearly two fold increase against February ($533 million), marking the Vietnam’s sole export item earning $1 billion in March, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).

Totally in the first three months of this year, the country’s export for garment and textile products earned nearly $2.8 billion, rising 27.9 percent from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the country’s total import spending for cotton, fibre and cloth as main input materials for garment and textile sector in March was $890 million.

Of which, cloth import in March was $570 million, rising 50.8 percent against February and cloth import in Q1 is estimated at $1.4 billion, up 42 percent from Q1 2010.
