Vietnamese officials visit Argentina, Chile and the US

A Vietnamese delegation visited Argentina, Chile and the US from March 20-31 to discuss issues related to international economic integration, economic diplomacy and measures to enhance bilateral trade and economic ties.

The delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Doan Xuan Hung, included representatives form the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Industrial and Trade, the Finance Ministry, the Ministry of Public Security, the Party Central Committee Office and the Office of the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation

While staying in Argentina and Chile, Vietnamese officials shared experiences in negotiating free trade agreements in preparation for economic integration and entry to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

In the US, the Vietnamese delegation had talks with representatives from the US Department of State, the Department of Commerce, the National Security Council and the American Chamber of Commerce, as well as a number of Senators and Congressmen of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party.

The Vietnamese delegation highlighted policies on international economic integration in the light of the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, saying that Vietnam will actively take part in the WTO’s Doha negotiation round and bilateral and multilateral economic and trade cooperation mechanisms in the region, including the free trade agreement with Chile and the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP).
