Vietnamese Leader Urges Businesses to Protect Seafood Trademarks

Vietnamese businesses should tighten cooperation to protect brand names and prestige of Vietnamese seafood on both local and world markets, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan said.

Doan made her request at a ceremony held in Hanoi on Jan. 23 to present first-ever national awards to 78 outstanding units, companies and individuals that are operating in the fields of aquaculture, seafood netting, processing for export, logistics services and scientific research.
The leader asked concerned ministries and agencies to create favorable conditions for fishermen and aquaculture farmers and adopt opener mechanisms, especially those regarding credits and infrastructure and technological development, for businesses to approach to the international market.
The awards are based on business and social efficiency and environmental protection with the purpose of improving management quality, giving encouragement to farmers and fishermen, promoting aquaculture and increasing competitiveness in the industry.
Of the 78 recipients, the 10 deemed most excellent were given certificates of merit by the MARD. (VietnamPlus, VOV)
