Of the award recipients, 11 received golden prizes and 97 others received silver. Two enterprises, namely the Vietnam Electric Cable Corporation (CADIVI) and the Materials-Petroleum Joint Stock Company (COMECO), were also presented with the 2009 International Asia Pacific Quality Award (IAPQA).

The award winners are all in the frontline of creating and applying quality management system in line with the seven criteria set by the US National Quality Awards.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan stressed that this is the first time the national quality award has been organized according to the law on product quality. Over the past 14 years, 1,099 enterprises have been awarded golden prizes and 23 have received the IAPQA.

The award recipients have secured their foothold in both local and international markets by constantly improving their quality and competitiveness and consolidating domestic and foreign consumers’ trust in made-in-Vietnam products, he noted.

The presentation of awards has been organized annually by the General Department of Standardisation, Measurement, and Quality under the Ministry of Science and Technology since 1995. The event aims to recognize the good quality of Vietnamese products in both local and global markets, and to show that local enterprises are able to conquer the international market if they have appropriate business strategies.
