Vietnam-U.K trade valued at £561.3M in Jan-May

Trade between Vietnam and the U.K. rose 9.4% from a year earlier to £561.3 million in the first five months of this year, the Vietnam Trade Office in the U.K. and Northern Ireland said.

Of the sum, Vietnam exported £451.9 million worth of goods to the U.K., up 1.1% on-year and imported £109.4 million, up 65.4%.

The Southeast Asian nation reported an on-year trade surplus fall of 10.1% to £342.5 million between January and May.

The two-way trade rose 13.9% on-year to £113 million in May, including Vietnam’s trade surplus of £73.89 million, up 2% on-year.

Trade between Vietnam and the U.K. is expected to reach US$3 billion in the next years from US$1.9 billion in 2008.
