Vietnam trade deficit is forecast to reach $14 billion in 2011, accounting for 18% of total export revenue

Vietnam trade deficit is forecast to reach $14 billion in 2011, accounting for 18% of total export revenue the online newspaper VnExpress reported on December 22, citing the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

The export and import revenue in 2011 is predicted to reach $78 billion and $92 billion, up 10% and 11% from 2010, respectively.

The country should cut import of cigarette, automobile and components which are predicted to contribute nearly 8% of total import revenue in the next year, the ministry said.

The Southern Asian country is estimated to incur a trade gap of $12 billion in 2010, including import and export revenue of $70.8 billion and $82.8 billion, up 24% and 17% on year, respectively, MPI said. – Stoxplus.com
