Vietnam to survey popularity of telephone, Internet services

The Government will survey the popularity of telephone and Internet services in Vietnam in 2010, a plan that will be implemented by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC).

MoIC will review results of the survey from June 1-30, 2010, based on data collection completed by May 31, 2010.

All telecommunication, Internet service providers, radio and broadcast stations must send reports about their services to MoIC by May 31.

This survey will be grounds for information and communication development plans in Vietnam and also for the database of Vietnam’s e-government.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnam had 137.6 million telephone subscribers by the end of March 2010, 86 percent being mobile users. The number of broadband Internet subscribers was 3.12 million.
