Vietnam will have to import 1 million starting from July 15 when Dung Quat Oil Refinery shuts down for a 2-month maintenance, the online newspaper VnExpress quoted Nguyen Hoai Giang, General Director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd (BSR), the facility’s operator on June 15.
The remaining petrol capacity of around 170,000 tons as shutting down is only enough for domestic consumption in one week, Giang said.
The plant is planned to come back to operate on September 15. However, the bidders and the operator are trying to narrow the maintenance time by 10 days compared the plan.
In the related news, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced that Vietnam fuel firms have to keep the retail prices unchanged and raise fuel stabilization fund by VND100 per liter of petrol, effective from June 10. Also, the diesel and kerosene are taxed by 5% each from 0%, the online newspaper VnExpress reported on June 9, citing the MoF. – Stoxplus.com
