Vietnam to host Int’l footwear expo, conference to promote Asian market

Vietnam will host two international events next month to promote trade and investment in the Asian leather and footwear industry and help producers boost trade in the region.

The International Footwear Conference will take place on Sept. 6-7 with the participation of 12 member countries, including China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, Nguyen Duc Thuan, chairman of the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso) was quoted as saying.

The conference is expected to present solutions to help members improve product quality and tap the regional market instead of just focusing on exports to America and Europe.

An international footwear and leather exhibition will be held in Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City September 8-11, with 200 stands of 120 footwear and leather goods manufacturers, including 30 Vietnamese producers.

Beside the two events, Lefaso will honor excellent local footwear producers and announce the long-term development strategy of the industry on the occasion of the 20th year of the association.

Vietnam has exported footwear products to 50 countries and currently ranks the fourth among exporters worldwide.
