Vietnam to build nuclear power plant in 2020

Speaking at the 17th conference on The Future of Asia in Tokyo on May 26, Vietnamese deputy prime minister Hoang Trung Hai said Vietnam will build a nuclear power plant in 2020.

A group of Japanese companies said they have won contracts to build this plant.

Hai said that concern about nuclear safety stemming from the accident in the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant may force some countries to go back to use other energy sources that are polluting the environment.

But he added that nuclear power would be effective measures to help Vietnam combat the global warming situation. – DVT
