Vietnam spends over $1.3b per month on imports of agro-forestry, fisheries and fertilizer
Vietnam’s total import spending on agro-forestry, fisheries and fertilizer in November is estimated to be $1.3 billion, bringing the total figure in Jan-Nov to $14.4 billion, up 33.4% from the same period last year, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported.
Vietnam estimated to import 3.9 million tons of fertilizer worth $1.6 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up 27.6% in quantity and 55.2% in value from the same period last year.
Vietnam’s fertilizer import was mainly from China with 41.6% of the total volume while fertilizer import from Russia and Korea posted year on year falls. The average fertilizer import price in Jan-Oct increased 25.8% on year.
Vietnam also estimated to spend about $60 million on imports of pesticides and raw materials in November, lifting the total figure in Jan-Nov to $576 million, up 20.7% on year, mainly from China with 42.26% of the total import proportion.
Vietnam’s imports for animal feed and raw materials in November are estimated to be $160 million, bringing the total figure in Jan-Nov to $2 billion, mainly from Argentina (23.4%), India (21.6%) and the US (10.5%).
The country’s imports for wood and timber products in November are estimated to be $100 million and the accumulated figure in Jan-Nov was $1.2 billion, rising 16.2% on year.
Wheat import in November is estimated at $55 million for 160,000 tons, rising 2.1% in quantity and 36.8% in value on year. – Vietbiz24
