Vietnam seeks India’s cooperation in capacity building

To strengthen defence cooperation, Vietnam”s Navy chief and deputy minister Vice Admiral Nguyen Van Hien today met his Indian counterpart Admiral Nirmal Verma here.

The Vietnamese Navy chief also sought India”s cooperation in building the capabilities of his force, Navy officials said here.

Hien, who arrived in the country on June 24, has already visited the Mumbai-based Western Naval Command and Mazagon Dock Limited, where he looked at the Indian warship construction capabilities.

He is scheduled to meet Defence Minister A K Antony, Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal P V Naik and Army chief General V K Singh.

Hien will visit Visakhapatnam on Wednesday where he will visit the newly-acquired defence public sector shipbuilder Hindustan Shipyard Limited. – PTI
