Vietnam seek WB fund for seven transport projects in fiscal year 2011

The Ministry of Transport has recently announced a list of seven transport projects that are expected to be financed by the World Bank (WB) in the 2011 fiscal year and following fiscal years, the Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper reported Wednesday.

Accordingly, three projects of upgrading the existing road system include $300 million from International Development Association (IDA) for upgrading and maintaining the road network, $126 million from IDA for expanding National Road 1, passing through Can Tho-Phung Hiep and $280 million for developing the coastal transport system in Mekong Delta region
Additionally, there are four projects to build expressway using loans from WB, IDA and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) such as Da Nang-Quang Ngai highway ($1.6 billion) and Thanh Hoa-Bai Vot highway ($1.3 billion).
