Vietnam seafood exports up 13.3% in Jan-July

Vietnam exported US$2.49 billion worth of seafood in between Jan and July, rising 13.3% from a year earlier, said the General Customs Department.

Shrimp was the largest export stable of Vietnam with an export volume of 111,000 tons, valued at US$932 million. Tra and basa fish ranked second since the Southeast Asian country earned US$777 million from exporting 362,000 tons of the products.

Between Jan and July, the country also raked in US$499 million from exporting 172,000 tons of seafood of other kinds, and US$205 million from 50,000 tons of mollusks.

EU remained the largest market for Vietnamese seafood with revenues of US$624 million, up 5.5% on-year, the department said.

Followings were Japan and the U.S. with respective revenues of US$459 million and US$418 million, up 18.4% and 11.5% on-year, the department added.
