Vietnam Runs US$378.83M Trade Deficit with Malaysia in Q1: Ministry

Trade between Vietnam and Malaysia stood at US$1.07 billion in the first quarter, including Vietnam’s trade gap of US$378.83 million, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam imported US$725.63 million worth of goods from Malaysia in Q1, up 59.39% on-year and exported US$346.79 million, down 20.4%, the ministry added.

Crude oil, rice and steel product were Vietnam’s major exports to Malaysia while its main imports were petroleum products, computers, electronics and spare parts.

Currently, Malaysia is Vietnam’s third largest trading partner in ASEAN and the first among ASEAN investors.
