Vietnam Rubber Group to Develop 30,000Ha of Rubber Trees by 2020

Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) will grow 30,000 hectares of rubber trees in the central province of Nghe An from now to 2020, Le Quang Thung, chairman of the group said at a meeting with provincial authorities on May 10.

The authorities said they will hand over the land use right to Nghe An Rubber JSC to cultivate 2,000 hectares, and other firms to grow 1,000 hectares this year.

The cultivation is part of the group’s plan to expand local rubber acreage to 800,000 hectares by 2015.

This year, the group will plant 30,000-40,000 hectares of rubber trees more, expecting to harvest 770,000 tons of latex, and to notch up $1.5 billion from exporting 750,000-780,000 tons.
