Vietnam, RoK to cooperate in marine and island management

Vietnam’s General Department for Sea and Islands and the Korea Maritime Institute signed a memorandum of understanding in Hanoi on November 3 to exchange information, knowledge, and experience.

Under the agreement, both sides will also cooperate in human resources training and in consultancy for sustainable development in the region’s waters.

The signed agreement was seen as a firm foundation for long-term relations between the two agencies.

The Korea Maritime Institute will advise the General Department for Sea and Islands on policy formulation and maritime laws and will help it train staff.

The General Department for Sea and Islands was set up in 2008 as part of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment. Since its inception, the agency has paid special attention to expanding relations with countries and organizations in the region. – VOV
