Vietnam Rice Exports Fall 3% to US$1.45B in Jan-May
Vietnam has earned US$1.446 billion from exporting 2.82 million tons of rice in the first five months of 2010, representing on-year decreases of 3% in value and 10.5% in volume, the General Statistics Office estimated.
In May, the country is estimated to have exported 650,000 tons for US$293 million, down from 726,000 tons worth of US$361 million a month earlier.
The Vietnam Food Association said local firms have so far this year signed contracts to export 4.6 million tons, out of six million tons set for the whole year.
