Vietnam retail sales, services revenue expand 25.4% in Jan-Sept

Vietnam’s total retail sales and services revenue is estimated to have soared 25.4% from a year earlier to VND1146.161 trillion ($58.78 billion) in the first nine months of this year, the General Statistics Office said.

The revenue increased 2.93% from August to VND134.879 trillion in September, the GSO said in a statement released late Tuesday.

The trade sector reported an on-year revenue increase of 26.4% to VND905.149 trillion, equivalent to 79% of the country’s sum during the nine-month period.

The hotel and restaurant sector saw an on-year revenue rise of 21.8% to VND126.245 trillion; and the tourism and service sectors reported increases of 37.4% and 20.5% to VND12.159 trillion and VND102.608 trillion on-year, respectively.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has forecast retail sales and services revenue in the world’s 13th populous country with 86.5 million people will soar 22% from a year earlier to $78.9 billion this year. – GSO
