Vietnam retail sales, services revenue +26.1% In Jan-Aug

Total retail sales and services revenue in Vietnam is estimated to have soared 26.1% on year to VND1009.241 trillion ($51.76 billion) in the first eight months of this year

Total retail sales and services revenue in Vietnam is estimated to have soared 26.1% on year to VND1009.241 trillion ($51.76 billion) in the first eight months of this year, the General Statistics Office said in a statement released Thursday.

In August, the figure reached VND131.039 trillion, increasing 1.19% from July, the office said.

The trade sector contributed the biggest share in the revenue during the period, representing 79% of the total, or VND797.844 trillion, up 27.3% on year.

Other biggest components are the hotel and restaurant sector with VND110.291 trillion, rising 21.5% on year; and the service sector with VND90.458 trillion, up 21.5% on year and tourism sector with VND10.648 trillion, up 35.4% from a year earlier.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecast retail sales and services revenue of the 86.5 million people country will reached $78.9 billion this year, rising 22% from 2009. – GSO
