Vietnam retail sales and service revenue expands 22.7% in Jan-apr

Vietnam’s total retail sales and service revenue is estimated to have accelerated by 22.7% on-year to VND605.6 trillion in Jan-April on higher price level

Vietnam’s total retail sales and service revenue is estimated to have accelerated by 22.7% on-year to VND605.6 trillion in Jan-April on higher price level, the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) said.

In details, the trade sector rose by 22.7% on-year to VND478 trillion. Meanwhile, the service revenue increased by 18.5% on-year to VND53.2 trillion, the hotel and restaurant sector and the tourism posted an  increase of 25.7% on-year to VND68.27 trillion and 20.5% on-year to VND6.1 trillion, respectively.

In April alone, retail sales and service revenue is estimated to increase by 1.8% on month to VND153.9 trillion as the price hike of electricity and fuel boosted domestic price level this month.

The consumer price index (CPI) in April soared 3.32% from March and 17,51% on-year, raising its year-to-date by 9.64% and making it the highest month-on-month increase since 1991.
