Vietnam reports high growth in farm produce export

Vietnam grossed around 1.61 billion USD from the export of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products last month, raising the country’s total export turnover of these products in the first five months of this year to 7.22 billion USD.

The figure represents an increase of 15.7 percent over the same period last year, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

According to MARD, the hike is mainly attributed to rising prices of most of these products on the world market.

Except for coffee, other exports such as rice, tea, cashew nuts, pepper, aquatic products, wooden furniture and rubber recorded high growth in turnover last month, said MARD.

To maintain the export growth, MARD said the ministry would continue completing relevant mechanisms and policies and urge businesses to promptly invest in new production lines.
