Vietnam Remains Promising Investment Destination

Vietnam remains a promising investment destination for foreign investors including EU, Ambassador Sean Doyle, head of the European Commission Delegation, told.

EU investors are keen on tourism, information technology, electronics, assembly technology and garment, Doyle said, adding that distribution, real state, banking and insurance are attractive sectors for EU firms.

He highly praised policies created by the Vietnamese government for foreign investors, agreeing that Vietnam and the EU should start negotiations on FTA following a meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht in Hanoi in early March.

Trade between Vietnam and the EU fell 6.67% to $15.2 billion in 2009.

At the CG Meeting 2009, the EU pledged $1.082 billion in aid for Vietnam this year.
