Vietnam port handles 8.4Mln tons of cargoes in Jan-Sept

handled 8.4 million tons of cargoes in the first nine months of this year, fulfilling 67.2% of the full year target and deceasing 32.3% on year.

In details, imports fell 13.7% on year and exports dropped 77.5% on year, the Lao Dong newspaper reported.

The port is estimated to handle 4 million tons of cargoes to gain its set target for 2010 of stevedoring 12.5 million tons of cargoes.

Earlier, Saigon Port targeted to make a pretax profit of VND43 billion.

Vietnam has more than 100 ports, but few of them released their cargo throughput statistics monthly. – Stoxplus.com
