Vietnam Plastic Imports +38.5% to $2.03B in Jan-July

Vietnam is estimated to have spent $2.03 billion on importing plastic in the first seven months of this year, up 38.5% from a year earlier, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The Southeast Asian country imported $300 million worth of the plastic in July, down 6.25% from the revised figure of $320 million, the office said.

The plastic consumption per capita is expected to rise to 32kg in 2010, up from the current 22kg. Vietnam has so far had nearly 2,000 plastics companies. – GSO
