Vietnam Petroleum Exports Down 14.5% to 784,900 Tons in Jan-May

Vietnam exported 784,900 metric tons of petroleum products worth US$518.6 million in the first five months of this year, down 14.5% from a year earlier in volume but up 33.7% in value, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The nation fetched US$79 million from shipping abroad 111,7 00 metrics tons of the products in May, down 46.5% and 50.5% on-month, and up 10.5% and down 29% on year, respectively, the ministry attributed.

Cambodian was Vietnam’s biggest petroleum importer in the five-month period with 368,000 metric tons valued at US$249 million, down 13.1% on year in volume and up 36.8% in value.

It was followed by China with 173,145 metric tons worth US$118.857 million, up 209.6% and 357.7% on year; Singapore with 68,165 metric tons worth US$ 38.946 million, up 190% and 250% on year; and Thailand with 2,800 metric tons valued at US$1.6 million, up 19.6% and 93.4% on year, respectively.
