Vietnam Petrol Imports Fall 23.5% to 4.39M Tons in Jan-May

Vietnam is estimated to have spent US$2.768 billion on importing 4.386 million metric tons of petroleum products in the first five months of this year, up 16.3% from a year earlier in value but down 23.5% in volume, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said on May 25.

The country imported 900,000 metric tons of the products valued at US$585 million in May, up 1.35% on month in volume but down 2.82% in value, the GSO said.

Vietnam has reduced petroleum imports since the country’s first oil refinery Dung Quat is running at full capacity and has produced over 3.3 million tons of products. (GSO)
