Vietnam pepper prices fall on ample global supply
Export prices of Vietnamese pepper have fell since early Aug due to increasing supply from Indonesia and Malaysia, said the Vietnam Pepper Association.
Black pepper is offered at $3,800 a ton while prices of white pepper are between $5,500 and $5,800 a ton, the association said.
At domestic market, pepper prices fell to VND64 million ($3,368) a ton, after hitting four-year record high at VND80 million ($4,210) a ton early July.
Vietnam exported 87,000 tons of pepper for $274 million in the first seven months of 2010, up 5.04% and 41.57% on-year, respectively.
