Vietnam pepper prices decline in August

Vietnam’s exported pepper prices decreased slightly at the beginning of August because of higher supplies from Indonesia and Malaysia, the state-run online newspaper Tuoi Tre reported August 11, citing Vietnam Pepper Association said.
Black pepper prices averaged $3,800/ton and white pepper at $5,500-$5,800/ton.
In the local market, pepper prices dropped by VND15,000-VND16,000/kg from those of the last month.
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that in Jan-Jul, Vietnam exported 87,000 tons of pepper for $274 million, increasing 5.04% in quantity and 41.57% in value, compared with the same period of the last year.
