Vietnam is estimated to have disbursed $298 million funds provided in forms of the official development assistance (ODA), including $257 million borrowing capital and $41 million non-refundable grants in the first quarter of this year, the online newspaper NDHMoney reported on March 30, citing the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
The figure only contributed 12.4% of the plan of $2.4 billion for 2011. However, the ODA disbursement regularly goes up in the end of the year.
The disbursement reached $180 million in March alone, up $55 million from February.
The total ODA capital registered was $1,013.6 million by the end of March, including $987.7 million borrowing capital and $25.9 million non-refundable grants.
Earlier, on December, foreign donors at the Consultative Group Meeting (CG) held in Hanoi pledged Vietnam $7.9 billion for this year.
The WB, Asian Development Bank and Japan are still the biggest donors of Vietnam.
The disbursement of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam is estimated to have set a new record high at VND1.4 billion in March, even higher than the first two months of this year, raising the FDI disbursement to $2.4 billion, up 13.6% on-year in the first quarter of this year. – Stoxplus.com
