Vietnam needs VND12T for road infrastructure projects next year

Directorate for Roads of Vietnam under the Ministry of Transport estimates that Vietnam will need around VND12 trillion (US$615.38 million) for road infrastructure projects next year.

Of the sum, VND3.76 billion is expected to come from g-bonds and VND1.86 billion from the official development assistance (ODA).

The directorate will cooperate with related agencies to maximally mobilize funds for the projects from various sources, focusing on foreign and domestic private enterprises and ODA.

The Southeast Asian country needs US$16 billion for transport infrastructure projects a year; however, it can afford half of that figure.

Earlier, Vietnam’s National Assembly, the country’s highest legislative body, approved a plan to allocate VND72.22 trillion for local infrastructure projects in 2011. – Nhandan
